Is there any chance of giving the forum software the ability to email those who have contributed to a thread/topic when further posts are made to it? Traffic on the forums is slow for the most part, so I'm not swinging past as often as I otherwise might, and a reply might go unnoticed for quite a while. Similarly, the traffic rate might be a bit chicken and egg -- notification would probably bring people back here more quickly and thus increase the posting rate... in turn bringing more people back via the notifications.

I think I am right in saying this could automatically email members on updates including forum threads? I would welcome this, if only as a reminder to visit the site more often. It will enhance DB's profile and membership too, by putting it along side groups like Typographic Circle who already have an established LinkedIn Group. It is easily set up. They need a logo uploaded and Group Owner Email address, so it would be best done by one of the founders/organisers. The effects of setting this up could be quite dramatic. |
